The monthly membership fee is the foundation on which we build something together. Every cent goes directly into the association and into the possibilities we share.

#### **Your contribution**

When founding the association, we set a membership fee of **30 euros for regular members** and a reduced rate of **20 euros for school and university students**.

Anyone who is able and willing to contribute more than the basic fee is welcome to do so. **Supporting membership** also offers a way to support the association continuously without participating in its everyday activities. Both approaches give the association additional possibilities.

#### **What if the fee is too high right now?**

node-K should be open to everyone, regardless of their financial situation. If the fee is currently unaffordable, just talk to us: in cases of hardship, the board can reduce or suspend it simply and confidentially (statutes § 13, paragraph 8).

#### **Our vision: more than just paying the rent**

We deliberately chose a fee that gives us room to act from the outset. Our goal is to do more than barely cover our costs; we want to act proactively:

- **A solid foundation:** The fee creates a stable financial basis. It lets us plan workshops, provide materials for projects and organise community events.
- **Security for the future:** Even if our rent is low at first, we build reserves. This prepares us for higher future rents, necessary deposits or unexpected expenses, without having to fear for our survival whenever circumstances change.
- **Equipment and infrastructure:** We can buy whatever we do not receive through generous donations of goods. Your contribution goes directly into better tools, more furniture and working infrastructure for everyone.

#### **How we use your money: a transparent overview**

Your contribution is used for clearly defined purposes. Here is a breakdown of our expected expenses:

**Recurring fixed costs:**

- **Rent:** Our share of the space at the Makerspace.
- **Insurance:** Essential association liability insurance that protects us all.
- **Bank account:** Fees for the association's account.
- **IT infrastructure:** Costs for domains, servers, cloud services, tokens for LLM APIs, etc.

**Investing in the community — where your contribution comes to life**

This is what makes node-K what it is. Not bills or regulations, but real things that we create, experience and use together:

- **Tools and equipment:** A well-equipped space is not an end in itself; it is the foundation that lets ideas become more than thoughts. We buy, maintain and repair what we need, from soldering irons to drills, oscilloscopes to 3D printers. More members means better equipment.
- **Project and workshop materials:** Filament for the next print, wood for a prototype, electronic components for the experiment you have wanted to try for ages: we provide materials for shared projects and workshops. For personal use, consumables can also be purchased directly through the association.
- **Reserves for the future:** We think beyond today. A financial buffer lets us make larger purchases without stress and remain able to act when circumstances change.
- **Association trips and events:** Visiting other hackspaces, attending events together, finding new inspiration and representing node-K beyond our own space. These experiences bring us closer together and bring fresh ideas back to our space.

#### **Your contribution, your benefit: a cycle**

The money does not leave the association; it is turned into value for the community. The cycle is simple:

**You pay your fee → The association buys, for example, a 3D printer → You and other members use it and spend time together on suitable projects. Or we buy a game for a shared games evening.**

It is important to emphasise that nobody on the board or in the association is paid for their work or enriches themselves through the fees. It is a shared investment in our shared possibilities.

#### **Transparency — because it is your money**

We make our finances transparent because we consider it natural to do so. Every member can ask the board about our financial situation at any time. At the annual general assembly, all income and expenses are discussed together and checked by the auditors. You can read more in our [statutes](/en/wiki/allgemeine-informationen/statuten-und-vorstand).

#### **Can I support the association in other ways? Absolutely!**

The association does not live on money alone. Working tools, furniture and other donations of goods are very welcome. Your time and knowledge are valuable too, whether through running a workshop, helping with organisation or sharing your expertise with others.
",true]
